How We can Achieve Great Things One Step at a Time

There's always an inspiring story waiting to be told and appreciated.  I love to read about people who rise up from the ranks to become leaders and successful business owners.  Here is a fantastic story I came across that really leaves me wanting to get out there and work hard.

But first let me set the stage for you.  Imagine a world where you have to call someone in order to change the service they just sold you, and you have to wait a week for them to make the change, and they will charge you $100 or more to make that change, and then you have no guarantee that you'll be able to get the service you actually need.

Are you thinking, "Who would ever do business like that?"  I know I was surprised when I learned this was how the airline industry worked for years.  We have it easy today because the Internet offers us loads of Websites that allow us to change our travel plans quickly and cheaply.  But it wasn't always like that.

Have you fully realized the extent to which the myriad of major developments in Information Technology have utterly redesigned air travel and hospitality as we all have known them in past years? The one man you need to thank -- and I am quite serious about this -- is New Jersey's own Nicholas Bredimus. He has been in the thick of a wide range of projects, from the creation of computer programs that automate resource and time intensive processes to improving airplane safety and even designs for luxury houses. And, in all cases, his drive shines through.

Anyone could have predicted, though, that given his pedigree he was sure to rise to distinction. With roots all the way to classical times, Nicholas Bredimus' family can be linked to many parts of Europe. On his mother's side he descends from Scottish and German bloodlines. A similarly unusual blend dominates his father's side; before their emigration in the nineteenth century, the family made their homes in Luxembourg and England.

Naturally, following emigration to the U.S.A, the family kept its drive and determination to thrive and survive. Nicholas, as well as his siblings, was born to a father who worked as a software design engineer and a mother who was working as a practicing nurse. He settled for a time in Texas, Kansas City, Arizona and a township called Reston in Virginia.

After completing his education, he engaged in several prominent jobs for several of the most important and most popular airline companies. Among these was included the vice presidential role for Republic Airlines, Trans World Airlines (TWA), and Hughes Airwest. An inventive programmer, his creative approach to airline computer programs is most likely his greatest legacy.

Mr Bredimus is easily most renowned for a US Airways request, developing aircraft management software, which would soon become an "old reliable" for airplane upkeep. He turned his creativity next to taking and recording bookings. For both room and flight reservations he designed programs to take on most of the work required until that point.

He also designed QuikTix, the world's first automatic ticket sales network. He has even taken on a number of positions entirely outside of software development, it should be mentioned. Nicholas Bredimus worked as manager for American Express' important IT wing, founded Bredimus Systems in the early nineties, and had the honor of being the founding president of American Airlines' AMR Travel Services.

Having departed from the positions that first gave him success, his abilities are, regardless, still in demand. His attention has turned to the architectural problems bound up in the design of high tech upscale condos. That passion we highlighted simply won't stop anytime soon.
