What is there not to love about pizza? No matter how badly made, almost any pizza will be loved by someone. This is an incredibly versatile food. We had pizza last night and I am still feeling warm. There is just so much you can do with pizza that it's all I can think about today. I may have more pizza tonight.
Pizza is one of those crazy foods we think of as "fast" but it's really not fast food. In fact pizza takes so much time to make that Domino's gave up on its 30-minute delivery guarantee because too many drivers were getting into accidents trying to stay within the time limit. You have to wait for pizza and that is just how it is.
I prefer a good thin crust pizza myself. When I was younger I ate the deep dish pizzas with gusto but I eventually grew out of that phase. I almost grew a few sizes too large so I realized I had to slow down my eating. No more deep dish pizzas for me. But I have my memories.
And yet it seems like nothing can beat a well-made thin crust pizza, like this one from Italy. I'm almost ready to hop on a cruise ship and head over to Europe just to get my pizza made fresh in the Land of Pasta.
Where the pizza is made should not matter. It's how the pizza is made that matters. Wood-fired pizza is probably the most popular style of pizza. I know I love it.
Our love for pizza is so great that all the great pizza coupon deals pale by comparison with just ordering what you want off the top of your head. Sure, you can look for Pizza Hut coupons or find Papa Johns coupons on the Web but let's get real. If you want serious pizza you don't care about Pizza Hut or Papa Johns and you don't care about coupons.
I like a nice meaty pizza. That's a pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, beef, and maybe a few mushrooms. And extra cheese. There has to be extra cheese. Fire up that oven and just let me munch away.
And when I have good pizza in front of me I want a good beer to go with it. I know a lot of people drink soda with pizza but I'm not the only person who wants beer with pizza. This is just one of those rites of passage things. When you are old enough to drink legally you have to find the beer that works for you when you eat pizza.
Good mozzarella cheese is a must-have for any pizza but I have tried some gourmet cheese pizzas, too. Let me tell you, there is nothing quite like the experience. Although I will never eat goat-cheese pizza again it was worth trying once. Cheese is a great, versatile food and we probably do not eat enough of it.
And so while everyone else is thinking of holiday food and who to give that fruitcake to next, I'm thinking about pizza. I can't help myself. I think pizza was made for the holidays. I'm sure of it!
